COMPETITIVE PROGRAM
Our Competitive Teams
TAKE THE WORLD BY STORM!
Thunder All-Stars Cheerleading's competitive program is designed to cultivate individual talents while fostering a sense of teamwork and unity among athletes. Athletes undergo training to hone their skills in tumbling, stunting, jumping and dance, while also learning the importance of collaboration and support within a team environment. Through dedicated coaching and a supportive community, athletes not only excel in their performances but also develop invaluable life skills such as discipline, teamwork, resilience, and leadership. This season we have streamlined our competitive program into four levels of competitive cheerleading: NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED & ELITE. Each level is differentiated by age, skill level, expenses and time commitment to ensure that athletes and teams are successful. In our 21st season of cheerleading, we will be offering teams for all ages, abilities, and commitment levels. Athletes will be placed on teams that are both age and skill level appropriate following the Cheer Canada rules and age grids.

ATHLETES MUST ATTEND THE TEAM PLACEMENT PROCESS IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON A COMPETITIVE TEAM FOR THE 2024-2025 SEASON.
"Thunder is my second home! This was our first year in competitive cheerleading and my daughter is hooked. She loves the friendships that she has made and her how supportive her coaches are! Looking forward to watching her grow and develop for years to come." - Crystal
TEAM PLACEMENTS
To be placed on a competitive team for our 2024-2025 season athletes must attend the team placement sessions. Our team placements are a two-step process this year.

EVERYONE MAKES A TEAM!

STEP 1: INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE ASSESSMENTS - May 13th-17th, 2024
Athletes (new and returning) must attend an individual athlete assessment. Our coaching staff will assess athletes standing tumbling, running tumbling, jumps, and flexibility skills. These assessments will be conducted in small groups and take 30 minutes. Families must register on our website or by calling our front office at 905-819-9042.

STEP 2: GROUP TRYOUTS - May 21st-23rd, 2024
Athletes (new and returning) are required to attend one of our group tryouts in order to be placed on a competitive cheerleading team. At group tryouts our coaching staff will assess athletes’ stunting and dance/performance skills. Athletes will be performing a dance at group tryouts. Returning athletes will have the opportunity to learn the dance that is age specific during our "Level Up" clinics in May. New-to-Thunder families will receive an instructional dance video after you register for team placements and our coaches will be able to assist athletes at individual athlete assessments if more support is required. Athletes will be placed on a team where we know they will be the most successful. Team placements are FUN and STRESS FREE! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

STEP 3: CALL BACKS- May 24th-26th, 2024
Families will receive a phone call and email with team placements between May 24th-26th, 2024. Families and athletes that are selected for an ADVANCED or ELITE team must attend the team specific “Meet the Team Night” (May 27th-30th) to complete the registration package, make payment arrangements with our front office staff, learn about the upcoming season, and athletes will be sized for new practice attire and/or uniforms if needed.
